Mission

The City of Big Spring Sanitation Department will provide mechanized refuse collection for the citizens and businesses of Big Spring to help maintain a clean, safe and beautiful community. Through honesty, hard work and integrity we will provide the best possible service available. We will strive to be effective in our duties, efficient in our services, and always willing to do better today than we did the day before.

General Information

The Sanitation Department provides mechanized refuse collection for 8036 residential accounts and 1112 commercial accounts. Residential accounts are serviced at least once a week. Commercial accounts are serviced according to their needs. The department also repairs and replaces all collection containers. The City currently has three sizes of containers.

• 3 yard containers to four residents.
• 1.5 yard containers to two residents.
• If a resident does not have access to an alley, the City furnishes them with a 96 gallon roll out container.

All residential, business and commercial establishments within the corporate limits are required to subscribe to the City of Big Spring's municipal solid waste collection and disposal service and pay the associated charges.

There is no refuse collection, residential or commercial, on Saturday or Sunday.
